Taken from his interview in The Field with Charlotte Mackaness; 'It may surprise people to know that three-time Formula One world champion's first love was actually shooting, stating “it made my life”. Picking up clay pigeon shooting at the age of 14, he was soon entered into competitions, eventually becoming British Champion and narrowly missing Olympic selection. Having struggled heavily at school due to his severe dyslexia, Sir Jackie openly shares that “this was huge…Suddenly [he] was good at something and has something to be proud of. It meant as much to [him] as winning the F1 World Championship”. After being scouted as a racing driver, he eventually pivoted over and the rest is history, but his love of shooting remains!... Sir Jackie Stewart raced 99 grand prix and won three Formula 1 Driver’s World Championships. Trackside –stopwatch in hand – his wife Helen was with him for almost every mile raced. In 2014, Helen was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. Steadfastly solutions-oriented, Sir Jackie was spurred into action – this has become, the “most important race of his life.” '
